If we walk down the history lane of sports, we might get plenty of examples where a sports event end with deadly consequences. There are many violent games that often bring brutal consequences to the players, even to the audiences. Though fans do not expect to see a brutal end to their favorite matches, there are still some examples that couldn't stand strong on fans' expectations.

The 1955 Le Mans Disaster

In 1955 a motor car race ended with brutal consequences when 49-year-old driver Pierre Levegh crashed his car, and a mighty part of his car flew off to the audience seat and smashed 83 audiences. Levegh himself lost his life in that accident.

The Heysel Stadium Disaster

Another gruesome incident occurred in 1985 during the European Cup final between Juventus and Liverpool soccer match. Alike other matches, this one also started with excellent chasing but unfortunately ended with a gruesome sight. During the peak point of the game, supporters from both teams broke into each other and ended up with a total of 39 deaths and more than 500 injuries. 

The tragic death of Raymond Chapman

During a baseball match in 1920, Raymond Chapman was hit by an aggressive ball thrown by Yankee pitcher Mays. Chapman instantly fell to the ground, but soon after, he walked off from the ground with a bit of assistance from his two teammates. But shortly, he fainted and was taken to the hospital, but he couldn't survive even after a lengthy skull operation.

Was Reggie Lewis’s death a result of a wrong decision?

Reggie Lewis, the Boston Celtics’, one of the most aspiring stars, lost his life tragically due to cardiac attest. The basketball athlete was diagnosed with heart issues, but after treatment for a few months, he returned to the playground. Allegedly, some mischief happened during the physical checkup process, which allowed the athlete to pass. Shortly he lost his life when he started practicing during the off-season.

The sudden collapse of Marc-Vivien Foe

It is amongst the few most shocking deaths in sports history. In 2003, during the Confederations Cup semi-final match between Cameroon and France, Marc-Vivian Foe was spotted jogging around. That was when he suddenly collapsed and lost his life soon after.
