Vince McMahon has been one of the most entertaining yet controversial characters in WWE since his inception at the helm of the company. The notorious WWE boss can’t stay away long from headlines for the weirdest reasons. Most of those are pretty familiar to fans, including the infamous ‘kiss my a** club‘. But apart from this Vince McMahon once found a bizarre reason to sign the late star Brian Pillman to WWE’s roster, that you might not be aware of.
After a surprising WCW exit, Pillman’s free agent status caught Vince McMahon’s sly attention, who was busy picking up young guys from Bischoff’s promotion back then.
In the latest episode of the Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross recollected that incident and revealed the real reason for Vince singing Pillman.
The former WWW insider noted, ”Vince had remembered Brian from Brian’s intervention or whatever you want to call it at that convention right or where Brian was talking loud and MFing this MFing that, and Vince thought that’s cool. Brian had balls and he wasn’t intimidated to play his cards, I helped negotiate that deal with Brian.”
So, Pillman launching an offensive insult in public basically earned him his dream spot in the biggest wrestling promotion.
