The reality-bending of a superhero or villain's technology is perhaps the coolest thing ever. The U.S. Military is reportedly prepared to spend money on cutting-edge freezing technology for transformational purposes, according to Fandom Wire. According to the article, a University of Virginia professor and his team of scientists have thought of creating a freeze pistol similar to the one used by Arnold Schwarzenegger's character in the 1997 movie. Contrary to the villains, the technology won't be used to make weapons.

Patrick Hopkins, a professor and researcher in mechanical and aeronautical engineering, is the inventor of the equipment. He imagined the mechanism that would advance the field of cooling systems. According to Fandom Wire, it will be very useful for preserving the electronics in spacecraft and high-altitude aeroplanes.

The professor said, “That’s the primary problem right now. A lot of electronics on board heat up, but they have no way to cool down.” The problems of overheating in electronics devised it as a necessity to bring such an innovation into existence. Likewise, the U.S. Air Force has shown instant interest in the technology and is willing to invest in it. While Mr. Freeze’s weapon gets a real-life boost, the character itself beholds some iconic behind-the-scenes moments.

Arnold Schwarzenegger threatened his makeup artist

In one interview, Jeff Dawn, the makeup artist for Mr. Freeze, related a comical event that happened on the filming lot. Arnold, who was cast as Mr. Freeze, had agreed to become bald in order to play the evil. On the actual shaving day, the actor changed his mind. “I’m looking at Arnold. He’s looking at me with this big sh*t-grin smile, like, ‘Jeff, go ahead! I dare you,” the artist recounted.
