In the letter, Kaepernick opened his heart about his 5 a.m. training routine and asked Douglas for an opportunity to lead the practice squad. Pat McAfee began his podcast appreciating the man by saying, "I thought the tone of the letter was vastly different than I think a lot of people would have expected."

In discussing Kaepernick's plea to play for the NFL, McAfee appreciated all his work to uplift society. He said, "If this dude who wasn't playing great football at the time whenever he left football was able to keep at five years to be able to come back and play football in a level that might be one of the greatest feats in the history of humans, to be honest athletically that is my big question mark."

McAfee and AJ discussed the tone of the letter, things working against Kaepernick, and a suggestion for him to try leagues like XFL. Former NFL star AJ Hawk, now a sports analyst, said, "It seems like a perfect opportunity to go prove that, hey, I still got it."
