Deion Sanders, coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, has been in the spotlight ever since Travis Hunter suffered an injury during a game against the Rams. Despite Coach Prime's efforts to motivate Hunter, many people expressed criticism, catching the attention of sports journalist Stephen A. Smith. 

Stephen Smith shares about the negativity around Hunter's injury

In his recent podcast, Smith shed light on Hunter-Blackburn’s incident on the field that led to a lacerated liver injury for the Colorado Buffs player. The incident sparked a lot of negativity, to which Smith said, “There were actually folks out there sending death threats to Henry Blackburn which is ridiculous.”

Smith's appreciation for the young players 

In his podcast, Smith played the video of Hunter and Blackburn in which they meet up to clear the air as Hunter addresses Blackburn as a special guest. Hunter dismissed all the negativity surrounding the incident and said, "It's a blessing that that happened. So now we can show people the other side of football."

NFL journalist highlights learning from young generation

Smith explained that the incident happened during a game and was not a violent act. Showing appreciation for the players, he stated, "It's a damn shame when youngsters have to show grown-ups how to act. Like grown-ups, we're supposed to be teaching them, and far more often than not, these young kids are teaching us."
