Pittsburgh Steelers 2022: News, Schedule, Roster, Score, Injury Report

The Pittsburgh Steelers is one of the most storied clubs in NFL history with their introduction to the league dating all the way back to 1933. The Steelers were originally a regional pro team that was established in the early 1920s. Their arrival into the league came under the Pittsburgh Pirates banner.

They are the oldest franchise in the AFC and the 7th-oldest franchise in the NFL. Moreover, the Steelers are amongst the most successful franchises from the modern iteration of the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are tied with the New England Patriots for the most Super Bowl titles at 6. What?s more, they have both played in 16 and hosted 11 times more conference championship games than any other team in the league. Chiefly, they lost their most recent championship appearance on February 11th, 2011, at Super Bowl XLV.

The Pittsburgh Steelers finished off the 2021 regular season with a 12-4 record and placed first in the AFC North division. The Steelers went on to lose the wild card round of the playoffs against the Cleveland Brown in a lackluster 37-48 slide.

Logo

The Steelers logo is based on the Steelmark logo belonging to the American Iron and Steel Institute. The logo contains 3 hypocycloids that indicate steel lightens your work, brightens your day, and widens your world. They also represent the 3 materials used to produce steel: yellow for coal, orange for iron ore, and blue for steel scrap.

Not to mention, the Steelers had to petition the AISI in order to change the word Steel inside the Steelmark to Steelers before the logo was complete. The franchise is also the only NFL team to have their logo on only one side of the helmet.

Owner Achievements

The Rooney Family has been the majority owners of the Pittsburgh Steelers since the inception of the franchise in 1933. Art Rooney was at the helm of the club in all capacity until his death in 1988. His son Dan Rooney took over as the Team Chairman and owner and front office operations were subsequently passed onto Dan Rooney?s son Art Rooney II following Dan?s death in 2017.

Additionally, the fundamental approach of Rooney?s management through patience and consistency has been a huge attributing factor to their success. Their approach has proven to be rewarding in that all 3 post-AFL-NFL merger era coaches have won at least 1 Super Bowl and 2 AFC championships apiece.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Sponsors

U.S. Steel came out and signed an invested partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the midpoint of the 2019 season. Bet MGM was named as the first gaming partner for the legacy franchise. BetMGM is a leading sports betting and digital gaming company. They operate with the understanding that they are the presenting sponsors of the Steelers kickoff pregame show, which will be titled Steelers kickoff presented by BetMGM.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have also had a multi-year tie-up with Pizza Hut, and they became the 2nd official NFL team to partner-up with the chain establishment joining the Seattle Seahawks. Moreover, the club also has an exclusive association with FanDuel, the fully integrated marketing deal will prominently feature FanDuel at Heinz Field.
