As the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season reaches the halfway stage, some eyes are slowly turning to 2022. In other words, the NASCAR Silly Season will be in full swing as drivers hunt for new seats or retain old ones. One driver who’s future is fairly uncertain is Matt DiBenedetto.

In an interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, he spoke about what lies ahead for him. He said, “I got to trust the gods. It doesn’t make it easy though. I have got to keep on digging, look at the positives. What’s in my control is knowing that we have made great changes. It’s all about relationships, no disrespect, but we’ve just got to work.”

He insisted that despite all the speculations about his future, he was confident in his 2021 team. Matt DiBenedetto assured that he and the team can improve and fight for wins. Those are the only things that he can control, but his 2022 destination is not up to him.

He continued, “I don’t want to see anyone bashing on Wood Brothers because they are like family. They are the best human beings in the world. There’s a lot with Team Penske and Ford, and they’re pretty quiet on the Team Penske side. I haven’t heard anything, but I have heard a lot in the rumor mill. The rumor mill has not been anything that indicates good for me, as far as my situation.”

For now, DiBenedetto will be focusing on delivering eye-catching performances. If he performs well enough, he could potentially attract a new Cup Series team to recruit him.
