IPL is an extravaganza that has captured the soul of each and every individual of this nation. It has given every cricket fanatic something to rejoice. However there are some hidden facts about IPL which are quite fascinating. Here is a list of such facts.
Lowest total in IPL
Guess whats the lowest total in IPL. No its not the 82 made by RCB in the inaugural match of IPL vs KKR which was quite a one sided affair. Although, it involves the former team who were again on the receiving side. They bowled out the Kolkata Knight Riders for 131 runs in 2017. But when it was time to chase, the strongest batting lineup on paper seemed to have forgotten that. With star batsmen Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers failing to fire, RCB were skittled out for 49. Kohli even went out for a duck after facing just 1 ball.
Victory achieved with most balls to spare
KKR labored for 15.2 overs to produce a paltry 67 at the Wankhede Stadium in 2008. Mumbai came hurtling out of the blocks in reply. Sachin Tendulkar’s fall for a duck did not deter Sanath Jayasuriya. The Sri Lankan slammed 48 not out off 17 balls as Mumbai reached the target in just 5.3 overs.
Best bowling strike rate
No its not held by Malinga, neither by Steyn nor Starc but by Steyn’s compatriot Imran Tahir. He proudly holds the record for a staggering strike rate of 15.23 in his one-year IPL stint. He will be featuring in IPL 11 with the Chennai Super Kings.
