By the deadline on Friday, each of teams participating in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League have released the list of players released and retained. The 2020 IPL auction is scheduled for December and the teams will be analysing the list of the released players with a view to strengthen their teams.

Here are 5 released players that can be sought after by other teams during the auction-

Shimron Hetmyer:

Shimron Hetmyer might not have had the best of times in the IPL last year, but he has shown skills of being a good power hitter. When West Indies toured India before the IPL last season, Hetmyer was amongst runs and it seemed only natural when Royal Challengers of Bangalore (RCB) were expecting him to come good in the IPL. However, he just did not seem to settle in the team, which in itself did not settle down in the tournament. A new team could be just what Hetmyer would want to see him make a mark in the IPL.

Dale Steyn:

Undoubtedly one of the best bowlers of his generation, Dale Steyn’s release by RCB seemed surprising enough, especially considering the fact that he was brought in the middle of the season as a replacement. Probably the only explanation to his release could be the injury concerns that come with Dale Steyn. He could still be a worthy asset to any team and is a risk worth taking, considering the things a fully fit Steyn can achieve.

Martin Guptill:

Another proven power hitter, but flattering to deceive come the IPL. Guptill has had innings where he demolished the opposition bowling in a New Zealand jersey, but he could never quite replicate it in the IPL. For the last three seasons, he has been a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad, and scored 270 runs in 13 matches. Teams might still look to sign him with the reputation he carries.

Chris Morris:

As a fast bowler and useful hitter down the order, Chris Morris is often quite highly regarded around the IPL circuit. But he has never really cemented his place in any of the teams he has played for. The Delhi Capitals have released Morris, who could be a decent addition to many teams.

Nathan Coulter-Nile:

One of the many players released by RCB, Coulter-Nile, like Morris, is a fast bowler who can bat a little. He is also an experienced campaigner with decent performances in Australia’s Big Bash League. He will be up for auction and there should be a few teams looking to sign him.
