Ric Flair May Soon Join AEW following WWE Release

WWE released Legend Ric Flair, and everyone thought this was it for Flair’s wrestling career.
However, never say never! Especially when AEW is in the wrestling industry. It so happens that Tony Khan may be preparing to bring Ric Flair onboard.
The duo already knew each other given he was invited to Flair’s wedding prior to the launch of the company. Now, Dave Meltzer reported that it would be surprising if he did not end up at AEW. The only way it wouldn’t happen is if they didn’t come to a negotiated deal.

“It would actually surprise me if Flair wouldn’t wind up in AEW and I had to think the only thing holding that up would be if they couldn’t come to an agreeable deal.”
Ric Flair requested a release from WWE
Previously, reports stated that former ‘The Nature Boy’ requested a release. However, he only sent a message to McMahon complaining about Charlotte Flair’s booking situation. Instead of trying to resolve it, McMahon released Ric Flair from his contract.
“He had sent a message, I think it was a text message, but he had sent a message to Vince McMahon, and it was basically complaining about Charlotte’s booking, her situation. And now he’s gone. I’ve seen it said it was his decision to leave, and I just know from people who I know who are closer to this situation than I am that say that it was Vince’s decision.”

Flair’s last storyline in WWE involved him in a romantic storyline with Lacey Evans. Neither Ric Flair nor Charlotte Flair were too fond of this storyline.

It took a turn for the worse when Evans announced she was pregnant. And WWE showed The Nature Boy as the father. In an interview, Flair revealed how absurd he found the storyline, and he didn’t even know Lacey Evans when they started working together.
