Jon Jones’ Next Opponent Reportedly Revealed

Former WWE World Heavyweight champion and current AEW superstar Jake Hager reportedly revealed a potential fight with UFC megastar Jon Jones.

Earlier, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones took to Twitter and announced that he will have a wrestling and submission match against Bellator fighter Jake Hager in New Jersey.

However, the unbeaten Bellator fighter instantly replied that nothing was concrete and he cannot be sure. Now, according to Hager, the fight might happen and it seems there have been talks between him and Jones regarding the same.

Speaking on AEW Unrestricted podcast, the Inner Circle member revealed, Jones reached out to him again for a grappling match with him in New Jersey which might happen in January next year.

However, the former champ also noted that he will not go easy on the former two-time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. He will surely aim to secure a thundering victory.

“So he reached out to Josh Rafferty again, and wanted to do a wrestling and submission match in New Jersey on December 9. As an Oklahoma country boy who’s wrestling since he was four years old, hits me right in my wheelhouse. I’m like, ‘Yeah, you’re the greatest of all time, but you’re not going to take me down.'”

‘Bones’ has an impeccable record in MMA with 26-1-0 (NC) with 10 victories coming through knockouts.

Even though Jake Hager is relatively new in the world inside the octagon, the former WWE superstar has a record of 3-0-1, winning two fights via submission.

Speaking on the podcast, Hager feels blessed that UFC megastar chose him out of all people. And revealed that the fight might happen on January 9.

“I was very excited about it seemed like it was going to go down. He jumped the gun early on tweeting it out before we had any details. As far as I know, it’s still in the works. Maybe January 9. Nice now we’ll see. But I think it’s very cool that he wanted to just do that with me. I think it’s a testament to AEW,” he said.

The match would be a fight to look out for as Jones will make his comeback to the world of combat sports after two long years. Currently, he is training to make his debut as a heavyweight UFC superstar after conquering the Light Heavyweight division.
