Daniel Bryan Cites Vince McMahon’s Overprotective Nature as Reason Behind Leaving WWE for AEW

AEW All Out was a banger! So many surprise debuts in one night, yet all of them had a storyline attached to them. Even though CM Punk wrestled after seven years, the talking point was the debut of Bryan Danielson, fka Daniel Bryan in WWE.

Daniel Bryan made his return to pro-wrestling after he was “banished” from SmackDown by the WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Since then, fans speculated Bryan signed with AEW but it was all rumors. And last night, Daniel Bryan showed up after the main event of All Out.

Daniel Bryan confessed he wanted to try different things

Speaking with journalists at the AEW All Out Media Scrum, Bryan admitted WWE gave him permission to explore projects outside the WWE, but WWE Chairman Vince McMahon always wanted Bryan with him.

“The offer WWE gave me, they were gonna let me go do some other stuff on the outside, but, I hate to say this. He [Vince McMahon] and I have a great relationship. I love him, I do. Sometimes he’s overprotective of me. I want to be able to push my limits.” Bryan said.

During the media call, Bryan never spoke ill of WWE or his co-workers over there. It looks like Daniel Bryan left WWE on a very positive note, which is great to see for a wrestling fan.
