WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator, Jim Ross, threw the ‘forbidden gate’ open tonight on AEW Dynamite (17/2/21). Like many times before, Ross referred to WWE instead of AEW while announcing a match.

WWE maintains staunch disregard for its rival companies. They never mention or refer to them or WWE’s old wrestlers who work with them now. However, Ross’s slip-up was more hilarious than embarrassing.

While introducing AEW World Champion Kenny Omega for a segment, Ross messed up and called Omega the “WWE Champion.” While WWE would approve something like this, Ross’s words could be attributed to his decades of working with WWE.

Now, coming back to the commentary faux pas on AEW, fans quickly picked up on the slip-up, and the words traveled to current WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre.

McIntyre, who is preparing for his Elimination Chamber title match this Sunday, was not so happy with Ross’s declaration. Shortly after AEW, ‘The Scottish Psychopath’ posted an image that said, “WWE World Champion Drew McIntyre, is not impressed or amused.”

Following AEW, Jim Ross also revealed why he slipped up. The veteran blamed it on the heat of the moment on Live TV.

We don’t blame Ross at all. The main event of AEW was truly sensational. Omega came out right after tonight’s AEW main event. Jon Moxley, Rey Fenix, and Lance Archer won a tag team match against Eddie Kingston, The Butcher, and The Blade with The Bunny.

However, The Impact Tag Team Champions, Good Brothers, attacked Moxley’s celebrations as Omega announced he will face Moxley at the upcoming Revolution PPV in an ‘Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.’

This match is a part of Moxley’s rematch clause as a former World Champion. Yet, Omega truly took care of the opportunity and turned the tides in his favor with a never-before-seen match as a ‘Valentine’s Day Gift’ to Moxley.
