WWE went all out with Money in the Bank as fans returned to live shows in full-capacity. We saw several returns that reignited the fire in the WWE Universe that looks very difficult to set out. WWE’s rival AEW is not staying behind. If recent reports are to be believed then we could soon see CM Punk in AEW!

Yes, you read it right and it’s not a clickbait. According to a recent report on Fightful Select, CM Punk is believed to be in talks with a pro wrestling company for a return. Although Fightful did not mention AEW exclusively, the belief in the wrestling world is that it is.

After all, AEW has been a haven and place to return for several former WWE Superstars.

Rumors of CM Punk joining AEW start doing rounds again

Fightful Select suggest the ‘Straight Edge‘ Superstar is currently negotiating a return to pro wrestling. However, they did not mention the promotion. Although looking at the current state of pro wrestling today, AEW and WWE are the most likely promotions that could sign Punk.

Why only WWE and AEW? Well, it’s a no brainer that if CM Punk is returning, then he will surely want a heavy purse and only WWE/AEW can give him that. But when we look closely at his issues with WWE in the past, it seems highly unlikely that he’d end up there again.

At this point of time, AEW is the frontrunner to be the promotion where Punk ends up. Tony Khan had stated recently that they have a huge surprise in store, a surprise even bigger than Andrade El Idolo or Malakai Black’s debut. Now with this report doing rounds, we strongly believe the surprise is none other than CM Punk.

The former WWE Champion has been away from the squared circle since he quit WWE in 2014. Since then, Punk has gone to find other ventures and even tried his hand in the UFC. However, he didn’t really breakout in any other avenue, and could possibly be returning to wrestling for just that.
