Sammy Guevara is one of the youngest yet most coveted superstars in AEW. However, many fans might not realize that a WWE Hall of Famer actually trained a young Guevara.

Recently, Guevara shared a throwback picture from his initial days as a pro-wrestling student. His picture featured none other than WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.

Guevara used to train in Booker’s wrestling school in Huston and wrestled in the latter’s Reality of Wrestling promotion. Then, Sammy branched out to various indie promotions like MLW, EVOLVE, PWG, and Lucha Underground.

Booker called him in his office before Sammy’s first-ever match and gave some words of advice.

“I think he could tell I was nervous and told me ‘Look, if the worst thing that happens to you is you go out there and have a bad match, life is going to be OK.’ I remember that to this day because we get so caught up in our own heads with what is going on in the moment and that’s not your whole life. It’s just a little piece of it. If you make a mistake, you can learn from it and have a better tomorrow.”
