Perez started off with boxing before he made the decision to shift to MMA and peruse that as his career. He really liked boxing but the more aware he grew of MMA the deeper he got hooked on it and he decided to get some experience in the same.

This call seemed to be the right decision with his all-time pro record at 24-5-0 with 6 of those victories coming in UFC. He most recently went up against Jussier Formiga at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Santos in January 2020.

Alex Perez has what it takes to become the flyweight champion

Jussier Formiga is the only man to defeat the current champion, and Perez managed to secure the victory against him with a first-round knockout.

Walking into the octagon against the 19-1-0 Deiveson Figueiredo, Alex Perez stands a decent chance at getting his hands on the title.
