As the 2019 tennis season will be wrapping soon the year-end tournament in the women’s game, WTA Finals 2019 has delivered its final line-up after Belinda Bencic reserved her final berth at Kremlin Cup, Moscow. WTA Finals 2019 is set to commence on October 27, 2019, in Shenzhen, China.

1. Ashleigh Barty

It has been a fairytale season for the Australian star, Ashleigh Barty after she made a switch from cricket to tennis. This year she went on to win her first Grand Slam title in Paris. She not just pulled off the Roland Garros title, Barty also extended her match-winning streak to 15, in the midst of that she captured her title in Birmingham and turned World Number one. Barty will be the top-seed at WTA Finals 2019.

Barty became the third woman (after Goolagong and Osaka) outside the territories of the United States of America and Europe who settled on the apex of the WTA ladder.

2. Karolina Pliskova

The highest-ranked Czech tennis player, Karolina Pliskova had a few opportunities to take the World Number one ranking as she pulled four WTA titles this year. She was a champion in Brisbane, Eastbourne, Rome, and Zhengzhou. Also, Pliskova was a finalist in Miami and this year she also booked the semifinal berth in Melbourne. In a nutshell, Pliskova had a decent run in 2019 and earned her ticket for the Shenzhen event.

3. Naomi Osaka

The Japanese star, Naomi Osaka began a strong season after lifting up the Australian Open 2019 title. However, her season experienced a downward slope after her victory in Melbourne, but the Japanese bounced back on the WTA circuit after she conquered her title in her hometown, Osaka, Japan.

Thereon she went on to seize the title in Beijing by battling against the top-seed, Ashleigh Barty in finals and thereby collected her permit to Shenzhen.   

4. Elina Svitolina

Despite not winning a title this year, Elina Svitolina has managed to make deep runs at the majors. This year, Svitolina reached the semifinals at Wimbledon 2019 and lost to the ultimate champion, Simona Halep.

Later in the semi-finals of US Open 2019, the Ukrainian fell to Serena Williams. She was also the semifinalist at Indian Wells 2019 and made it to the quarters at the Melbourne major.

5. Bianca Andreescu

The brand new breeze from North America, Bianca Andreescu stole the show on the WTA circuit. As wild-card entrant the teenager from Mississauga, Andreescu claimed the Indian Wells 2019 title. Despite tackling with her shoulder injury, she kept a complete emphasis on her tennis unbroken.

The native hero, Andreescu played some incessant tennis on the courts of Toronto and pulled off the Rogers Cup 2019 in the presence of home-crowd. Her match-winning streak was refusing to come to an end and her tennis wand created wonders in New York as Andreescu became the first-ever Canadian to attain a Grand Slam title.

While chasing her first major title in the Big Apple City, Andreescu entered the top-ten rankings on the WTA scale and ascended to the fifth spot. Later in Beijing, she played a taxing match against Naomi Osaka which snapped her match-winning streak. However, her invincible tennis during the North American summer confirmed her spot in Shenzhen. 

6. Simona Halep

Another marvel on the WTA Tour, Simona Halep claimed her second Grand Slam title in London. Growing up, she was told if you reach the finals of Wimbledon only then your tennis career is complete.

Resonating those words within herself, the Romanian breeze, Halep stormed in the finals of Wimbledon. She defeated the seven-time Wimbledon champion, Serena Williams, under 56 minutes of time and became the first Romanian to claim the elite title of tennis in SW19.

7. Petra Kvitova

The two-time Wimbledon champion, Petra Kvitova made a hefty start of the season by entering the finals of Australian Open 2019. She also landed up in the finals of Dubai, but her first title of the year was achieved in Stuttgart in the month of April.

Kvitova was ranked number two in the world during the clay-court tour and had bright chances to sit on the crest of the WTA roster. However, fate had its own plans and Kvitova was compelled to pull out due to a forearm injury.

She kept her rankings intact and reached the semifinals and quarterfinals in Wuhan and Beijing respectively and qualified for the WTA Finals 2019 in Shenzhen.

8. Belinda Bencic

The Swiss pride of WTA, Belinda Bencic sealed her WTA Finals 2019 spot after she defeated Kristiana Mlandenovic in the semifinals of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, Russia.

This year, Bencic won a title in Dubai, entered the finals in Mallorca, claimed three consecutive victories against the then-ranked World Number one, Naomi Osaka, and later entered semifinals of US Open 2019.
