Among Us Mods Add a New ‘Famous’ Role

Among Us as a game saw a spike in popularity during the last year. The lockdown period last year saw many games rise to insane popularity, like Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout and Phasmophobia. However, none of those titles saw such a massive influx of new players like Among Us.
The 2018 title got so popular that it became synonymous with the lockdown period. Last year it even bagged the Best Multiplayer Game at the Game of The Year Awards.
One major reason for this was, of course, the fact that it is a fairly simple game. A group of crewmates on a broken spaceship finish certain tasks, while an impostor tries to kill the crewmates and sabotage their tasks. The game is reminiscent of the popular party game ‘Werewolf’, and this is probably another reason behind its popularity.

Now, with its increasing popularity, the community wanted more from the game. Although devs at Innersloth paused their work on an Among Us sequel to add more content into the game, many players have already added roles, rules, and content with the help of mods.

We know that Among Us rose to huge popularity through various influencers, content creators, and streamers. This latest mod seems to be a subtle nod at the entire influencer culture. The latest mod has added the role of ‘Famous’ to the game.

Now, the Famous character functions exactly like an impostor but with a little twist. When you attempt to kill a crewmate as Famous, the character spawns numerous ‘Fangirls’ who crowd the crewmate and kill it. It creates total chaos, and you can escape the scene meanwhile.
The popular YouTuber Inquisitor Master played a couple of rounds with the Famous mod, and it does look pretty exciting and fun!
