The pandemic situation has forced the majority of the human population locked up in their homes with nothing but video games to keep them company. This period saw a lot of games garner huge popularity, one of which is Among Us. This 2018 game registered a record number of hours viewed on Twitch, with 31 million hours of viewing. Among Us is easily one of the most popular games streamed on the platform.

The game’s meteoric rise can be attributed to two major factors. For one, it closely resembles the popular party games like Werewolves/Mafia and provides players a sense of social activity since friends can play and enjoy it together. Secondly, it does not have the steep learning curve that popular multiplayer games like, say, Fortnite, and Warzone have.

Naturally, following this rise in popularity, the game also provided fodder for internet-based content like memes and videos. Recently, YouTube channel Laugh Over Life made a video depicting Among Us as a reality show. The video quite accurately shows what usually goes down in the game. In a way, the game does work almost like a game show/reality show.
