The Mario update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is just around the corner. Initially planned for March, the update will arrive on February 25 instead. While this might be a minor observation for many, it actually means so much more. Fortunately, all of it is only going to make ACNH fans extremely happy.
SwitchForce on YouTube feels that Nintendo has put a lot of thought into deciding the launch date for upcoming updates. The reason behind this is the anniversary of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. As one of the most successful games on Nintendo completes one year of launch, the company wants to give something exciting to fans.
Fans might remember the Sanrio cards Nintendo teased a while ago. The retail launch of the cards is on March 26, six days after ACNH’s anniversary. SwitchForce believes that this is no coincidence. In fact, this is the perfect opportunity for Nintendo to introduce major changes to the game for a so-called ‘Season Two’.
He feels that Nintendo intentionally avoided making the Mario update a big one. Apart from some items and clothes, there is not a lot that arrives with the February 25 update. Fans obviously get the cool warp pipe feature, but that is not as good as new villagers.
The idea behind keeping the Mario update simple would be to save major changes for an upcoming anniversary update. With the upcoming patch being labeled 1.8, Switch believes the March update will finally move to 2.0. This update will introduce all the Sanrio villagers in the card collection lined up for the launch next month.
Most of the content that data miners leaked has already made its way to the game. However, one update that everyone was enthusiastically waiting for was the arrival of Brewster, our favorite pigeon, to the game. The long wait for Brewster to set foot on our islands might finally come to an end.
The anniversary update would be the perfect opportunity for Nintendo to add another popular villager from previous editions of the game. It could add new elements to the game, such as a cafe for Brewster to run if Nintendo finally decides to add him to the game.
This is only one of the many assumptions about how Nintendo would like to wrap up a fantastic year for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The game has contributed immensely to the success of the Nintendo Switch. It surely deserves a blast for its anniversary.
