Over the course of the last few months, we have identified several ways of making more bells. These include planting bells to get a hefty return, smashing rocks, and even selling crafted items. Moreover, selling seasonal items will always get the players a better return. However, there are certain items in the game that can be sold for a hefty price each time.

Turnips are one such item in the game that becomes a hot topic every Sunday.

Turnips are basically the Animal Crossing version of the stock market, known as the ‘stalk market’ in the game. The stalk market, though, requires the same amount of practice and patience as the stock market. The players can purchase these and need to hold on to them for a lucrative return.

Selling turnips is a simple way of making money in Animal Crossing

Selling turnips isn’t the only way of making money in the game, but for sure is one of the easiest ways of doing so. Turnips operate in the game on a weekly cycle. The players can purchase them every Sunday from a boar named Daisy Mae. She sells these turnips from 5 AM to 12 PM.

Mae sells them in bundles of 10 and the price varies each week, depending on her mood you can say. But the price usually varies from 90 to 110 bells per turnip. The players are free to purchase as many bells from her as long as she’s on their island. The only condition is that the players need to have enough bells to purchase them.

These turnips rot and become worthless if they aren’t sold before the following Sunday. Players can store these turnips in their house storage or can store them outside. Easier said than done.

The players will need to fence these turnips otherwise the other villagers can easily pick them up.

When should the players sell these turnips?

Timmy and Tommy purchase turnips from the players every day except Sundays. Anything above 200 bells for one turnip is a decent price. In a pleasant week, these turnips might sell for 300 to 400 apiece. On the flip side, you might have to sell them for a cheap price in a dreadful week.

The players need to be patient. Timmy and Tommy change their prices twice daily. Once in the morning and then in the afternoon. The players can maintain a record of prices to see a recurring pattern before they sell the turnips.

It is important to note that the prices of these turnips will increase at least twice a week. The gamble is whether you want to sell on that first increase or wait for another one.

Don’t panic if your turnips rot

Even if you don’t get enough bells from Timmy and Tommy, the players can always sell turnips on other people’s islands. Several players are currently a part of the stalk market. It is possible that they might give you a better deal than Timmy and Tommy.

More importantly, rotten turnips attract a range of insects and flies. This will enable you to catch seasonal critters and add them to your Critterpedia.
