ATP Cologne 2 Draw: Alexander Zverev and Diego Schwartzman on Collision Course

2020 Bett1Hulks Championship or Cologne 2, an ATP tournament, is all set to be held in Cologne, Germany from October 19-25, 2020. It will take place at the Lanxess Arena. Being organized due to the cancellation of many other tournaments due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The tournament has seen some big names pull out due to various reasons. Roberto Bautista Agut has withdrawn due to an elbow injury. And Andy Murray has had to pull out citing his recurring hip issues.

2020 ATP Cologne Round 2 And Beyond

The big guns in Alexander Zverev(top seed), Diego Schwartzman(second seed), Denis Shapovalov(third seed), and Felix Auger-Aliassime(fifth seed) are already through to the second round, courtesy a ‘BYE’.

The aforementioned will be up against unseeded players in Round 2 and should make proceedings to Round 3 easy work. And while Zverev looks favorite for the tournament, Shapovalov can potentially set up a meeting with Hubert Hurkacz(sixth seed) in Round 3.

Hurkacz will, however, have to first get past the resistance of the wild card entrant and newest Italian teen, Jack Sinner in Round 1 itself.

Auger-Aliassime can possibly play Jan-Lennard Struff(seventh seed) and, Schwartzman may end up facing the now seeded, Marion Cilic.

All these of course if they don’t suffer an upset and crash out of the tournament early.

ATP Cologne 2 Finals Verdict

Shapovalov is fresh out of a decent showing in the St.Petersburg Open. And with Schwartzman’s current form, it won’t be a surprise if either of the two set up a final clash with Zverev.

Zverev who beat Felix Auger-Aliassime to win the first title of the season will be keen to add to that tally in Round 2 at Cologne.
