Tennis legend Rafael Nadal made his much-awaited comeback this year for the 2024 tournament season. He even played 2 tremendous matches at the Brisbane International. However, during the third match, he endured an injury due to which he had to take a break. This ruined his plans to play at the Australian Open, putting his fans in a doubtful mode.

Providing fresh hope to the Nadal fans, the Australian Open director revealed that Rafael Nadal will be back soon and may even play next year at the Australian Open 2025.

The Australian Open Director reveals that Rafael Nadal may not retire this year

In a recent podcast episode of the ‘AO Show’, the Australian Open director Craig Tiley revealed that he had met Rafael Nadal after he took a break. He then went on to add that Nadal did not say a ‘n0’ to the possibility of being a part of the rest of the tournament and the Australian Open next year.

Tiley shared, “He will be ready hopefully in February and I wish him well. I just told him we’re looking forward to seeing him in January 2025. He didn’t say no [to playing in Melbourne next year]. His reaction was, ‘If I’m playing, feeling good, and not injured, I’ll be back.”

Amidst all the speculation around Rafael Nadal’s retirement this year, the recent revelation surely gives his fans a glimmer of hope. Besides that, Craig Tiley also shared Nadal’s thoughts about his injury not being very serious.

Nadal may be back in two to three weeks to complete the 2024 season

In the same podcast episode, Craig Tiley shared that Nadal talked to him about his injuries. He mentioned that this injury is not as bad as the one he got before. This will get better in probably 2 to 3 weeks so he may be back by February end to continue with the rest of the season. Tiley also shared that Nadal took months to be ready for this season.

And now that Nadal had to vouch out of it, he is very disappointed by this fact. However, Nadal’s fans are hopeful that he will probably be back for the other Grand Slams this year. Fingers crossed! What do you think?
