While Netflix attempted to make a similar product to F1 Drive to survive with tennis, it didn’t work out as expected and got canceled after two seasons that aired in just a year. Recently, after the shocking news, tennis fans were left underwhelmed and angry. But the former American tennis player has an idea that might attract a lot of attention in place of the Netflix tennis series.
He took to his Instagram account to share a video in which he was seen talking about creating a documentary on himself that might be more interesting, looking at the way he shifted from tennis to pickleball. Along with this, however, he captioned the video, highlighting the main context of the kind of documentary the tennis world needs. He wrote, “The documentary series the world needs.”

The 36-year-old said, “Hey Netflix with the cancellation of BreakPoint, I’ve got a new and more interesting series for you. A series based on me. The hardest thing in sport is expectation we’ve been blessed with an era of greatness but every era comes to an end after 17 successful seasons of playing tennis. Subsequently, the professional pickleball player detailed how there are a lot of interesting things that can be displayed in his documentary, starting from how he has seen an era of greatness to making a transition into pickleball. In a recent post on his official X account, sports journalist Ben Rothenberg ascribed the collapse of the Breakpoint series to a lack of participation from prominent tennis players. He wrote, “Man how I wish this show had been better. After watching Season 1 I thought they were lucky to get a Season 2. It just didn’t work. Not a shock it’s done. Blame the producers? The players? Both? Lots of time for post-mortems on a massive missed opportunity for the sport.”

Players like Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, the current men’s world number one and a 24-time Grand Slam winner, were noticeably absent from the series. Furthermore, although Polish player Iga Swiatek, the current world number one and four-time Grand Slam champion, did feature in the first season, her absence from the second season is still unclear and could add even more to the show’s flaws.
