In the middle of the recent “speed bumps,” Williams’ childhood coach, Rick Macci, remained a regular support. On understanding the recent setback’s impact on the young talent, he came forward to state, “I know he’s had, you know, a few speed bumps lately, but he’s a kid. He’s 20 years old. You know, he’s not going anywhere. I think he’s going to get such a bucket of grand slams. It’s unreal. I feel in my opinion, he’s by far the leader in the clubhouse. I don’t think anybody is there.” While Alcaraz stands in a situation of facing disappointment over his recent defeat, the words from Macci are targeted to uplift him to look forward for the upcoming season.

Keeping in view both technical and mental aspects, Alcaraz’s coach marked a need for improvement on the specific surface. Along with that, he also highlighted the mental strength required to face fierce opponents like Djokovic.

Giving a glimpse of the details that matter in a match of tennis, Alcaraz’s coach mentioned, “You have to work everything, but you have to get used to the fact that if you play at such a high level, every week you have the requirement to win, to play against the best and that requirement, sometimes, takes you to the limit of mental fatigue, which is what has happened at the end of the season.” This detailed insight provided an understanding of the intensity of such high-level matches against tennis legends like Djokovic, along with mentioning a need to add more layers of preparation.
