Novak Djokovic has been on the up and up since he won his maiden Grand Slam title at the 2008 Australian Open. Now, 18 Grand Slams and nine Australian Open titles later, he still looks forward to winning more.

Last Sunday, the Serbian World No. 1 defeated the Russian force Daniil Medvedev to win the 2021 Australian Open. This feat made him the ninth oldest to win a Major.

However, the 33-year-old is still a breath of fresh air when it comes to playing tennis. Moreover, he even feels that he can keep running Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to win the GOAT race.

“Age is just a number, so I don’t feel tired or exhausted from playing tennis, competing at the highest level. I know that, realistically, things are not the same as they were 10 years ago in terms of energy and biology and everything. But I feel like I still have a lot of gas in me,” the Serbian ace said.

Following that, he mentioned the importance of scheduling his tennis calendar properly. He said that he will need to be wiser and will have to direct his energy into the tournaments that matter the most.

Djokovic then expressed his ambitions as he goes forward in the 2021 season. He said, “Hopefully I will be able to win more majors, that’s something that I’ll definitely look forward to as a priority.”

The fact that Djokovic has won half of his overall Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open is quite a concern. However, he has reached nine semifinals in every major tournament, making him the only player to do so. Therefore, he is always a big favorite in every Slam. Also, he is currently in his 309 week as World No. 1, a week away from equaling Federer’s record.

To sum things up, the Serbian ace has yet again got a great start to his season. Hopefully, he will fulfill the ambitions that he has set up for himself.
