Only weeks before the US Open 2021, the tennis world received heartbreaking news from Roger Federer. Although keeping assertive, he updated that he will need surgery again as he hurt his knee during the grass-court season. In response, fellow competitors and fans around the world wished speedy recovery for the Swiss maestro.
It also means that the 20-time Grand Slam champion will be out for many months from the Tour. However, at 40, Federer is still looking forward to returning to the tennis courts again.
“I’ll be on crutches for many weeks and out of the game for many months,” Federer said. “I want to give myself a glimmer of hope of a return to the Tour in some shape or form.”

As he expected, tennis fans flooded the video’s comment section with prayers and positive messages. The list also saw many from within the tennis society.

Kyrgios, Del Potro, and others wish Roger Federer a speedy recovery
A die-hard Federer fan, Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios showed his concern on Instagram. He said, “Get better, goat.” (Goat is short for Greatest Of All Time).

Furthermore, Argentine professional Juan Martin del Potro, also going through a similar phase since 2019, wished his friend “all the best.” He added to that, “We will be back.”

20-year-old Jenson Brooksby also wished Federer to “Get well and better soon.” Additionally, the ATP, the WTA, the Australian Open, and the US Open stood behind the champion.

The list, however, did not consist only of members related to tennis but more. From Hollywood, Australian actor Hugh Jackman and his wife also sent Federer their love. He wrote, “Deb and I are sending our love for a speedy recovery!! Be well.”

Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh also joined the list and showed his support for the Swiss maestro. He wrote, “Go Roger.”
Besides, the support for the Basel-born is far from over yet. Accordingly, many more voices will express their care for Federer.
To sum up, tennis fans will miss an irreparable jewel of the sport for an indefinite period. However, as long as he is hopeful of a comeback, the illustrious tennis story is far from ending.
