‘His Choice’: Craig Tiley Adds More Suspense to Novak Djokovic’s Australian Open 2022 Participation

As 2021 is coming to an end, tennis professionals have started gearing up for the upcoming 2022 season. While players like Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev, and Daniil Medvedev have confirmed their participation at the Australian Open 2022, Novak Djokovic hasn’t revealed his availability.

A small number of players and personnel will be permitted to enter Melbourne Park without getting vaccinated because of a medical exemption, according to Craig Tiley, Australian Open director. Tiley even said that Djokovic wants to play the Australian Open however, the officials haven’t received anything on his vaccination status or exemption.

Novak Djokovic’s participation at the Australian Open in 2022 still remains shrouded in mystery. Recently, Craig Tiley had admitted that a small group of staff who haven’t been vaccinated have been granted a medical exemption to attend Melbourne Park.

According to Tiley, Djokovic wants to play at the Australian Open. However, as of now, Open officials haven’t received anything from the Serb’s side on requesting a medical exemption. Moreover, it’s important for him to reveal his vaccination status, said Tiley. Tiley concluded by saying, ” It’s his choice”.

Djokovic to play at the ATP Cup

The 20-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic will be leading the charge for his country at the ATP Cup 2022. After a disappointing performance at the Davis Cup, Djokovic would be aiming to grab a cup for Serbia.

This will be the third edition of the ATP Cup, which will be played on hard courts in Sydney, Australia. The tournament will begin on January 1st and go until January 9th, 2022.
