Berrettini lays one hand on title

There were minimal expectations from the Polish prodigy Hurkacz at the start of the tournament. However, after taking out Daniil Medvedev and Roger Federer in consecutive matches, many had predicted a real battle on the cards.

The Pole surely made Berrettini work hard; yet, the World No.9 was just relentless in his pursuit of reaching the final. He gave Hurkacz no time to get a grip on the game. After a minor lapse of concentration in set three, Italy’s Berrettini succeeded 6-3 6-0 6-7(3) 6-4.

Berrettini’s statistics will be very encouraging for him and his team as they look forward to Sunday. Having one of the biggest serves in his armory, the former US Open semifinalist sent down 22 aces in the match.

He also hit 60/18 winners/unforced errors, which any player in the world would be delighted with. Berrettini outplayed Hurkacz in every department possible.
