In a recent revelation, upcoming tennis sensation Holger Rune made a shocking decision to part ways with coach Severin Lüthi. Speaking further on the decision was his mother and manager, Aneke Rune. She mentioned that the timing didn’t quite align with Holger’s need for continuous coaching support.

While Severin Luthi will be gone, Kenneth Carlsen, who has been on Rune’s coaching bench before, steps in as a permanent coach to provide the consistent guidance required. The decision aims to make sure Holger has a coach with him all the time.

Notably, tennis legend Boris Becker will continue to be part of Rune’s coaching team. “The timing with Severin was not quite right. Holger needs a coach who is with him all the time and a super coach (Boris Becker ed.). Severin will be able to cover too few weeks for the continuity that Holger needs,” said Rune’s mother in the interview.

As Rune goes through this coaching change, the focus remains on ensuring steady support for his growth in the tennis world.

Despite parting ways, Luthi was the only Roger Federer connection that Rune had in his team. Having admired the Swiss champion his whole life, Rune was obliged by Luthi’s presence.
