John McEnroe was dissatisfied with the Andre Agassi-Djokovic partnership
Novak Djokovic worked with Andre Agassi in 2017, to figure a way out of his slump. The Serbian player had won twelve grand slam titles till then. However, he had gotten stuck in 2017 and was working with Andre Agassi. But their partnership was that of guidance. Agassi was not training Djokovic permanently and was there to guide him. American tennis legend, John McEnroe, believed that the setting was not compatible with the Serbian player.

He said, “At the very least, you need to get a feel for his routine, and what makes him tick, and what you can add.” He added, “It looks great on paper when you bring in Andre Agassi, and it is great for tennis.” Furthermore, McEnroe said, “He did have this career renaissance so there are reasons why it makes sense, but it is hard to think that could make sense so fast.”

He contested that Agassi could not get hold of Djokovic’s routine because he was not there with him throughout the whole training. He said, “If you’re only here for a few days, with any person it’s going to take some time.”

Both Novak Djokovic and Agassi ended their partnership on cordial terms. The Serbian player also thanked him for his guidance. Agassi too stated that parting ways were best for them as they were not complimenting each other.
