The 2023 Nitto ATP Finals unveiled many stories of players competing against each other to achieve the top spot. Among those tales, one such story, that came up with a goal to compete with the greatest, ended without a significant accomplishment. Young Danish tennis star Holger Rune, who recently made changes to his coaching team by getting legendary coach Boris Becker on his side, stood on a run to stabilize his distorted form.

Boris Becker, the legendary tennis coach who has also been a crucial part of Novak Djokovic‘s journey, came out of a recent past that spoiled his image in front of the world. However, the respect that he received from young Dane made him stick to the 20-year-old, despite the disappointing setbacks in the year-end tour. Fast forward to the present, the legendary tennis coach Boris Becker is not only out of prison but has also made a remarkable return to the tennis world. In an interview with Eurosport Germany’s tennis podcast ‘Das Gelbe vom Ball,’ Becker shared his experience returning to the Swiss Indoors in Basel.

“When I arrived in Basel, I immediately felt at home,” he mentioned, remembering the warming transition from a challenging period behind bars to a warm greeting on the tennis court. As the legend continued to share his thoughts on the warm welcome, he added, “I immediately felt at home. The Players’ Lounge is the same, the court is the same and even the hotel is the same, even if it has a new name now.”

Former tennis star Boris Becker, before shaking hands with team Rune, found himself on a very different court earlier this year – a legal one. Sentenced to two years under the Insolvency Act for concealing assets, Becker had to spend eight months behind bars. Using his chance to speak up on BBC Radio Live Breakfast, he revealed the details of how he had to face the harsh realities of prison life as he had to share the environment populated by murderers, drug dealers, rapists, and dangerous criminals.
