The ATP Finals 2020 has reached the business end of the tournament with the semi-finals locked in. The three Grand Slam winners in 2020 have earned their tickets, while Daniil Medvedev has eased his way into the final four. Now, there is a real chance for Medvedev to win the biggest crown of his career so far!
Medvedev, with his unconventional playing style, has been a wonderful contender in London this year. He amassed a 100% win record in the round-robin matches and all of them were straight-set victories.
Looking at the Russian’s hot run of form has forced former US Open finalist Greg Rusedski to label him as the favorite to win the year-end tournament. Rusedski put forth how the semi-finals line-up is a thrilling one that contains all Slam winners from this year.
“On top of that, you have the hottest player on Tour right now, Medvedev, who won in Paris,” the Brit said.
Greg Rusedski himself has competed in the ATP Finals during his playing days. However, the quality of the matches we’re witnessing this year is super impressive.
“This is a perfect finish to the season considering what everybody’s had to go through this year,” Rusedski mentioned.
The two best players in the world are participating in the 50th edition of ATP Finals, but Medvedev is shining bright with his talent. “I’m leaning towards this guy called Daniil Medvedev at the moment, I’m just super impressed with him,” Rusedski said about the Russian.
Medvedev played an amazing match a few days ago when he dispatched Novak Djokovic in straight sets. It wowed the viewers and came out as a beaming message from the 24-year-old that he’s in it to win it!
“I’m just thinking this could be his [Medvedev’s] year to win the title. Despite his head-to-head, there’s something I saw in his match with Novak Djokovic, I’m leaning towards him,” Rusedski further added.
The level of intensity Medvedev brings to the court is amazing to watch. He has a mammoth clash against Nadal lined up, but his recent displays make him the bright favorite to advance to the final.
“Can any of the four guys win? Of course they can. But who has played the best so far at this event? That’s been Medvedev, in my opinion,” Rusedski mentioned.
There’s plenty of praise flying in from all over the world for the talented Russian. His performance justifies every claim which makes him a player to watch out for. He just needs to deliver two killer blows to claim the biggest trophy of his promising career. Can he hold on and win the ATP Finals 2020?
