Tennis fans are still drooling over some of the ridiculous shots and rallies played by Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in their French Open 2020 final. However, Hubert Hurkacz featured in one of the best rallies of the season so far, played on Monday in Germany, during the bett1HULKS Indoors event.

The ATP 250 event is currently underway in Cologne. During a Round of 32 match between sixth seed Hurkacz and Marc Polmans, the two players played a fantastic point, showing great agility and ball-retrieving skills.

Hurkacz started the rally, putting Polmans on the back-foot right away. The world number 116, Polmans, quickly turned things around with a deep backhand down the middle that left Hurkacz scrambling. Polmans saw the opportunity, approached the net, and made a good drop volley, which Hurkacz retrieved.

Polmans then sent the Polish player running to the baseline, and Hurkacz pulled out a tweener which Polmans almost couldn’t reach. He did, though, but Hurkacz ran to the net again and played a ‘whip forehand’ shot.

Polmans showed great skills at the net and made a very tough volley, once again sending Hurkacz running to the baseline as the world number 31 played another tweener right at his opponent. This time, Polmans was ready for it and played a drop volley winner to finally end the point.

Both men were left gasping for breath after the amount of running they did throughout that rally. The stunning rally prompted the commentator to say, “They both deserve a point after that rally.”

It was a crucial point that was played at 30-30 on Hurkacz’s serve. He put behind the disappointment of losing that point and won 6-2, 7-5 to reach the next round.

German hero Alexander Zverev and Roberto Bautista Agut are the top two seeds at the event. Felix Auger-Aliassime and Andy Murray are also in focus in the Cologne event. Murray faces a tough opening match against Fernando Verdasco. The Briton star received a wild-card for the event.

The winner of that match faces Zverev in the next round. If Murray wins his opening tie, his match against Zverev will be a repeat of their Western and Southern Open contest, which Andy Murray won.
