The whole world waited in excitement for UFC 254 as Khabib Nurmagomedov was headlining the event. The organizers took it to a whole new level by hosting it at the Flash Forum on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Khabib won his fight to remain undefeated, and tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Bianca Andreescu were super thrilled with the result!

Andreescu is taking an extended break from tennis, and she’s enjoying her time by indulging in other sporting events. The latest UFC event had the Canadian pumped about the gravity of the fights that were on the cards. The 20-year-old posted a tweet expressing her excitement about the bout, which went in the way of ‘The Eagle.’

As the fight began, Khabib took no time to settle in and dominated right from the start. He claimed the win as early as Round 2 and successfully defended his lightweight title and extended his record to 29-0. Bianca Andreescu was left speechless, following the result.

Novak Djokovic sent a touching post to Khabib after his emotional win

As Khabib applied the triangle choke and made Justin Gaethje tap out, he knew that he had made history. The Russian registered his 29th victory, but it was the first one without his father by his side.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov had been Khabib’s lifelong coach but passed earlier in the year due to health complications. Khabib returned to the octagon after almost a year and soared to victory, but the emotions kicked in hard afterward.

The lightweight champion crawled to the ground and wept uncontrollably, venting out all the emotions that weighed him down leading to this fight. This win was incredibly special as it came for his beloved father. A record-breaking bout which ended in Khabib’s way and Novak Djokovic was right there to commend the feat.

A designer created a beautiful illustration of Abdulmanap’s spirit standing beside his champion son. Novak Djokovic felt intrigued by the work of art and shared it on his Instagram account.

Khabib’s win and him breaking down will certainly go down as one of the iconic moments in sporting history. Over the years, he has dominated inside the octagon with all his might. But he will no longer do so, as he does not want to step into it without his father to support him. And just like that, one of the greatest fighters has retired from UFC.
