Australian GP 2019: Lewis Hamilton Leads Mercedes 1-2 in Australia

The Big 3 Formula One teams have always enjoyed a ridiculously high budget

Q1 for Australian GP 2019 has wrapped up and the biggest shock is Pierre Gasly exiting early. Joining him on the sidelines are Carlos Sainz, Lance Stroll, George Russell and Robert Kubica.

It was a torrid day for Red Bull as Max Verstappen could only muster 10th in Q1. Meanwhile, Ferrari new boy, Charles LeClerc topped the timesheets ahead of both Mercedes.

There were more casualties as both Renaults were eliminated along with Antonio Giovinazzi, Daniil Kvyat and Alexander Albon. Meanwhile, McLaren rookie, Lando Norris was delighted to make Q3 on his debut.

But there was no stopping Lewis Hamilton as he romped to yet another pole position. To make matters even sweeter, teammate Valtteri Bottas made it a front row lockout for Mercedes. Behind them, Sebastian Vettel heads the second row from Max Verstappen and Charles LeClerc in 5th.
