Ever since he joined the Ligue 1 champions, the 27-year old has struggled to settle in that the club. He had reportedly had issues with his teammates, particularly, Edinson Cavani.

Speaking to the BBC, Cardoner said, “What [I believe] is that Neymar wants to come back. [But] to say we are working on recruiting him, that is something I cannot agree with.”

With an impending exit from PSG, speculations have arisen on the Brazilian’s next destination. During a press conference, the Barcelona vice president was asked to comment on the subject.

He confessed that it was “likely that Neymar wants to return to Barca,”. However he affirmed that FC Barcelona are not looking in Neymar’s direction, nor have they held any discussions either with club or player.

Back in 2017, when the MSN trio was broken up, courtesy Neymar’s move to PSG, it broke the global transfer record. The Ligue 1 giants shelled out around €220 million for the Brazilian.

Since joining, Neymar helped guide PSG to consecutive Ligue 1 titles and netted 34 goals in 36 league appearances. Unfortunately his PSG stint was riddled with rumours of dressing room confrontations and separate bans for hitting out at a fan and insulting match officials.

Thought-provokingly, reports in the Spanish media say that he offered to take a €12 million pay cut a year. The idea was to help facilitate a glorious return to Barcelona and reunite the deadly MSN combination.

In addition to that, the Barcelona line up will look al the more deadly, with talks of Antoine Griezmann joining the Catalans. It is reported that the Frenchman will be signing with FC Barcelona for 120m euros.
