As a professional, Michael Jordan played several roles. A basketball player who was an unstoppable scoring machine and in every play drawn up by his coach. One could name several such roles he played throughout his career. In his personal life, he is a husband, a sibling, and a parent for instance. As a parent, he feels he has had to make some tough decisions, just like every parent has had to. However, here’s why he feels his problem is tougher for him than any other parent. It’s because he is arguably the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball.

In 2005, Michael Jordan was hosting the annual Michael Jordan’s senior flight school in Las Vegas. While talking to the people who signed up for this experience, Jordan opened up about his parenthood problems. This is what he said about why some of his problems are tougher than any other parent’s.

Michael Jordan is rightly competitive, even about parenthood

Jordan said, “As a parent, you have to simplify it as much as possible. To show them that either way I still love you if you missed that shot. It’s tougher for me than you because my oldest thinks he should be the next Michael Jordan. Just by birthright, you know! And to try to talk him out of it my wife and I are driving ourselves nuts. To say could just have a good time you know, it’s only one Michael Jordan.”

Typical of something he has always admitted to being, Jordan was in a way competitive with his parenthood as well. Nevertheless, it cannot be denied that his parental advice was rational.

Considering that every child looks up to their parents and wants to be like their parents. Jordan is arguably the greatest player to ever play basketball. At least in his position on the team as the shooting guard and the leader of the team. So it’s natural that his son would have felt like he should be the next Michael Jordan.
