The tennis season of 2017 has been a roller coaster ride so far. It has seen it’s highs and lows. Champions crowned and the injured exit. Runner ups with broken dreams and early round defaulters. Records broken and new records being made. Suspensions and returns. Retirement and announcement of comebacks. It has seen it all. And in between this whirlwind of the tennis world, there were some priceless tweets by and about some tennis players that should not be missed. Here at ES we bring you the best tennis tweets of 2017.

10) Sneaky Tweets By Roger

Roger Federer is known for being a master of variety of trick shots in tennis. His twitter account is no less exciting.

9) Andy Roddick At His Best

Ever since Marion Bartoli announced her return from retirement, the tennis media and fans have been in a state of frenzy. This comes as a surprise because soon after her abrupt retirement after winning Wimbledon in 2013, she was diagnosed with an unnamed virus. And due to this she lost a lot of weight to the point of being unrecognisable.

In December 2017, Marion Bartoli announced her comeback with this tweet.

But, what followed was hilarious. Andy Roddick followed suit by tweeting in two rounds.

8) When The Legend Himself Appreciates

Juan Martin del Potro has one of the most powerful forehands in the game.
Federer once opined ,‘He’s got a great forehand down the line, inside-out forehand, which in my opinion are maybe more difficult shots to hit’. The following tweets makes it clear.

7) Boy Band In The Making

At the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Federer tweeted a video of himself, Dimitrov and Tommy Haas. In it the trio can be seen crooning to Chicago’s Hard To Say I’m Sorry. Musician David Foster played the piano for them.

Want to know the best part? Incidentally, all the three players play single handed backhand. Hence, Federer coined a band name for the trio- the ‘One-handed Backhand Boys’.

5) Kilterer

Roger Federer was invited for a charity tennis match in Glasgow by Andy Murray.

To which Murray replied.

And things got better when Federer wore a kilt towards the end of the match. “I played very well in it and when I took it off, I felt naked!” Federer joked after the match. Federer went on to beat Murray 3-6 6-3 (5-10) after a champions tie break.

4) New Beginnings for Serena

Serena Williams won her 23rd Grand Slam title at the Australian Open when she was 2 months pregnant.
On September 1, 2017, Williams gave birth to a girl named Alexis Olympia Ohanian.

Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian married on November 16.

3) When Andy Murray Is Savage

Donald Trump had tweeted that Time Magazine was going to make him Person of the Year but that he turned down the opportunity because he “would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot”. Trump had been named Person of the Year in 2016. Andy Murray mocked the President for his excuse on twitter.

2) When Andy Murray Is Still Savage
