When it comes to the off-season, in bodybuilding, athletes often take the opportunity to relax and enjoy food they usually avoid during their strict diet regimens. Five-time Mr. Olympia Chris Bumstead is no exception. This off-season, Bumstead is combining his love for food with some necessary recovery time.

Recently, Bumstead shared glimpses of his Mexico trip on Instagram, where he enjoyed Japanese food for dinner. He humorously noted in his Instagram story, “Came to Mexico to eat sushi I guess…(and pound of chips and guac).” However, Bumstead’s trip isn’t just about indulging in delicious food; it has a significant purpose.

In a recent workout video, Bumstead had revealed that he was in Mexico for stem cell treatment. Before heading to Mexico, Bumstead rigorously worked out seven days a week to maintain his physique. He acknowledged the intensity, saying, “I’m going to train probably for like seven days in a row right now for a reason that’s not smart,” but he pushed through to fit in leg, chest, and back sessions before his treatment.

In addition, Bumstead then moved to leg presses at 450 lbs, performing 19 reps with brief breaks in between. His routine continued with leg extensions, where he completed three sets of 35 reps, and the adduction inner thigh machine for 29 reps in two sets. To finish, he does calf raises, stating, “It’s heavy as f**k but it feels good.” Afterward, he indulged in a post-workout meal.
