The Mr. Olympia contest has seen its fair share of controversies over decades of competition. However, the 2007 edition of the celebrated bodybuilding show often gets overlooked. Not one, but multiple decisions left fans and some competitors scratching their heads in ’07. After an image of the 2007 Mr. Olympia resurfaced, fans again raised their voices.

In 2007, 8x Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman competed on stage for the last time. Despite being well beyond his prime, he bested one of the most talented German bodybuilders of all time. Besides Jay Cutler beating the Dominican Dominator to win the title, Coleman beating Dennis Wolf was a huge debate. Sixteen years later, has the opinion of fans changed?

On May 27, Archives of Bodybuilding uploaded five images of Ronnie “The King” Coleman, Dennis Wolf, Dexter “The Blade” Jackson, and Melvin Anthony Jr. The five images show the competitors in five different poses. The first shows their front-double biceps, followed by the lat spread, back-double biceps, abs, and thighs, and finally, the most muscular.

In every pose, Wolf seems to be the biggest bodybuilder on stage. His conditioning also matches that of The Blade. However, Coleman, who was already battling injuries, looks like a shadow of his former self. However, that year besides Coleman’s old rival beating Martinez, The King also defeated Denis Wolf and placed fourth behind The Blade.

Most fans didn’t just think Wolf should have placed higher than Coleman but should have won the entire contest. “I thought Dennis Wolf should’ve won this year,” wrote one fan. “Dennis got royally screwed that year too, he beat both Ronnie and Dexter with ease,” commented a second fan.

“Dennis should have won this show. Jackson looked great! But Dennis looked super great!!” wrote a third fan. One fan claimed he attended the show and thought the same 16 years ago. “Being there, I thought Wolf won the whole show. I love Ronnie but he had a gift,” he wrote. “Dennis made Ronnie look small,” commented one Instagram user. “Man, wish Ronnie would have sat this one out and started his rehab instead,” a concerned fan commented.
