Billy Joe Saunders unquestionably ranks among the most successful boxers of the modern era. With vast weapons in his arsenal, Saunders has defeated every opponent to claim stupendous wins. But all of his achievements have arrived at a significant cost to him, as ‘Superb’ has suffered his fair share of injuries as an active boxer.

These injuries have hampered the Brit’s career to a certain extent, as he had to pull out of some exuberant fights because of this.

In 2015, Billy Joe Saunders was an elite middleweight who got lined up to face Andy Lee. This bout was set to take place in 2015 for the WBO middleweight title. However, it got postponed twice. The second postponement was because Saunders suffered a cut while training for this battle.

However, he recovered well and moved ahead to lock horns with rival Andy Lee. Saunders even won this fight and shut his naysayers with a cracking performance.

Moving further, in 2018, ‘Superb’ was all set to face Martin Murray in a 12-round war. But ahead of this fight, too, the Hertfordshire native suffered a hamstring injury, thus pulling out of the fight. Despite that, he recovered well and remained hungry to get his boxing career back on track.

Also, a couple of months back, ahead of his super-middleweight unification bout, Billy Joe Saunders took it to his official social handle to let his fans know that he’s contracted flu. For that, he even took a 10-day break from his training and workouts.

Have injuries put a dent in Billy Joe Saunders’ career?

Saunders, who is a prime boxing bigwig, has enjoyed a terrific career in the sport until now. Additionally, he’s never let all those injuries affect his pro-boxing run by any means.

Even after succumbing to hamstring injuries, or cuts in training, the Brit has always come back stronger than before.

Saunders, who displays a champion attitude, fights with a lion’s heart in all of his boxing battles. This is principally why he’s reached the summit of the game and stayed there. Hence, one can’t say that injuries have put a dent in his career.
