Canelo Alvarez Losses: Why Dmitry Bivol Haunts Him More Than Floyd Mayweather

The boxing world was left in awe of Dmitry Bivol when he prevailed against Canelo Alvarez. Despite being the underdog in the fight, Bivol came out as the better fighter on that day and did something unexpected. Bivol is only the second after Floyd Mayweather Jr. to taste victory against Alvarez. But, it seems like since this shocking loss, Alvarez has been waiting to redeem himself against the Russian. And, the fact of losing the first fight is still something he hasn’t let go of. His promoter Eddie Hearn made big revelations about Alvarez’s mindset since his loss. And, further discussed what would make the Mexican feel better.

In a recent interview, Hearn did not leave questions unanswered about the Alvarez and Bivol saga. He discussed what’s next for his boxer who is scheduled to lock horns with John Ryder in the first week of May.

Canelo Alvarez is ready to fight Dmitry Bivol again

In an interview with MMAFightingonSBN, Eddie Hearn discussed what the fans can expect from the Alvarez and Bivol saga. And, what ‘Cinnamon’ is expecting from himself. The British promoter further talked about why this loss was different than the Mayweather Jr. loss for Alvarez.

Hearn said, “He has zero fear of fighting anyone. But, in his head in the moment, I don’t think he can sleep properly, till he gets a chance to avenge the defeat [Bivol].” He further talked about the effect of the Mayweather Jr. defeat on Alvarez. Hearn added, “Mayweather defeat hurt him, but he was what like 22 or something like that.” Recently, Hearn’s suggestion for Alvarez vs Bivol II was not well-perceived by the fans.

Hearn further talked about the confidence for a rematch with Bivol. He said, “When it comes to Dmitry Bivol, He is absolutely certain. He can beat him.” Hearn further talked about what would make this rematch special for Alvarez. According to him, Alvarez will go into this fight as a “massive underdog.” Hearn further did not rule out a fight between David Benavidez and Alvarez after the rematch with Bivol.

A rematch between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol is one of the most anticipated clashes in the super-middleweight division. In the first fight, the world witnessed an underdog claiming victory against one of the most celebrated boxers in the world, increasing the anticipation for a rematch. The stakes for this match are high. With Hearn shedding light on Alvarez’s mindset after his second professional loss, it is clear that ‘Cinnamon’ wants this win so badly.

Before he steps into the ring with Bivol, Alvarez will face John Ryder in a mandatory title defense in his hometown of Guadalajara. Following Alvarez’s homecoming bout, fans can expect an official announcement of the clash between Alvarez and Bivol.
