Oscar De La Hoya on Canelo Alvarez’s weakness
Alvarez’s career has stretched more than a decade. After competing in 63 professional bouts, he has been victorious 59 times with only 2 defeats. His most recent defeat came in just last year. The 33-year-old moved up to light-heavyweight to face Dmitry Bivol and was defeated via a unanimous decision. De La Hoya thinks that Alvarez will be beaten by anybody who can mimic Bivol’s style.
While speaking to FightHubtv, the fighter-turned-promoter was asked to weigh in on Charlo’s path to victory. In response, he stated, “Any style you give to Canelo, that is similar to a Bivol. He’s gonna have trouble with it. Anyone who stays on toe, anyone who flicks a jab in front of his face, anybody knows how to keep the distance, just like Bivol. Canelo will have trouble. That’s the bottom line.”
De La Hoya is a legend of the sport and has closely observed Alvarez rising through the ranks. Needless to say, his opinion on Alvarez’s weakness is of great relevance. Although, what does he think about Charlo’s chances in the upcoming fight?
