In a podcast of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, which is yet to be telecast, Ric Flair shared his opinion of the incident with Mike Tyson.

According to the reports in Mirror, Ric Flair says, “If I didn’t like a remark, for any reason whatsoever, that somebody said about my wife, I would be punching them — not slapping them.”
Ric Flair believes that if Smith was so angry, he would have punched Rock and not slapped him.

On the other side, to clear Flair’s doubt, the producer of the Oscars show, Will Packer, opened up on the show Good Morning America. He talks about his discussion with Chris Rock after the incident.
Packer talked about how when he went backstage he asked Rock,” did he really hit you ?”
Chris Rock replied with a witty answer, “Yeah! I just took a punch from Muhammad Ali.”
Rock inserted a punchline while replying to Packer about the incident with Will Smith. He compared the hit with Smith’s movie, in which he was the lead actor and portrayed the character of Muhammad Ali.

While Will was nominated for his work in Ali, he did not win the award that year. He finally won his first Oscar this year, just minutes after the infamous ‘Slapgate’ incident.
