Last weekend, Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant gave the hardcore boxing fans a treat with their high-class tussle. The pair were in line for an undisputed super-middleweight clash, and the hype behind this contest was insane for obvious reasons. That said, this bout truly lived up to the expectations and no one could have asked for more from the two athletes.

This event went down as one of the biggest boxing bouts of 2021. But, one thing that not many noticed was that the Matchroom boss, Eddie Hearn, wasn’t quite visible during the entire event.
Recently, Hearn interacted with iFL TV. Here he opened up on the actual reason why he wasn’t allowed to attend the event.

“I chose not to go to the press conference. I wasn’t allowed in many places. But I was allowed in the press conference if I wanted to. But I’ve got, you know, I wasn’t promoting the show. I was there to support him.”
He added, “Obviously I was involved with 80 percent of that, 85 percent of that, but I didn’t promote this show. I didn’t really feel like people wanted me around last week, not Canelo, but obviously, promoters at the event. So I wasn’t really going to stick my nose in trying to get here, get there.”
Hearn is pretty close to Canelo, and the duo worked together for two fights this year. Many expected Hearn to be around Alvarez for this entire event right from the press conferences to the actual fight. But the Brit was hardly visible throughout the buildup of this fight.
