UFC legend Chael Sonnen has made a bold claim about the current situation in boxing. With the tide shifting to internet boxers calling out legends and big-name fighters, Sonnen has had his say on how things can go. The outspoken fighter gave his honest opinion on the call-out by Jake Paul; He says who he thinks will be the most likely opponent for Paul after his knockout victory.

Speaking on his own podcast, ‘Beyond the Fight’, Sonnen suggested that maybe Floyd Mayweather would be more likely to get in the ring with Jake Paul rather than Conor McGregor. He said, “Look, that’s exactly what Floyd is looking for right now, and nothing else. Floyd is looking specifically to do, crazy and bizarre things for a whole bunch of money.”

He explained why it is more likely to be Mayweather and not McGregor. “Floyd’s sitting around, he’s got no contract anywhere. I think that’s a very likely fight. Very likely. Are you ready for that?”
It does make sense when you consider that McGregor is set to return to the UFC in 2021 and could have more MMA fights.

Does Chael Sonnen have a point in saying Mayweather is more likely?
Jake Paul’s older brother Logan has already called out Mayweather. When that happened, ‘Money’ did not shut it down and suggested that Logan Paul could get it too if he wanted it. Mayweather has already fought an exhibition fight and another big money fight against Conor McGregor himself. So, he is no stranger to these kinds of bouts.

So maybe Chael Sonnen has a point when it comes to Mayweather doing crazy things. And with the icon of the sport already confirming yet another exhibition fight in Japan, it is true that Jake Paul would have had a better chance calling him out rather than ‘The Notorious’. Either way, it seems that these fantasy match-ups won’t die down anytime soon. Do you agree with Sonnen?
