“I Don’t Know” – Terence Crawford Doubtful About Fighting Behind Closed Doors

The WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford was present in the arena during Top Rank’s Herring vs Oquendo card. During an interview at the announcer table, Crawford was asked about his return to the ring. To which he replied, “Probably November.”

On being asked about his thoughts on fighting without the fans, he said, “I don’t know, it’s like a sparring match, but we professionals and we gotta do what we gotta do at the end of the day, and, a fight is a fight.”

Additionally, he was asked about his potential opponent, as the talks of him facing former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook have been doing the rounds lately. To this, he replied, “That’s what they saying, whoever is at the top of the list. If it’s Kell Brook that I’m fighting, then it’s Kell Brook that I’m fighting.”

If the rumors are true, then it could be a treat for the fans in November. Two of the best fighters in the division battling it out to see who is better.

Terence Crawford vs Kell Brook: What to expect?

Crawford (36-0, 27 KOs) is ranked as one of the best pound for pound boxers according to the biggest sports websites. He made his pro debut in 2008 and has held championships in three different weight classes. He is the first male boxer and one of the few to hold all major boxing titles in a division. His last bout was against Egidijus Kavaliauskas in December 2019, where he won via stoppage in the ninth round.

Brook (39-2, 27 KOs) made his professional debut in 2004 and has held the IBF welterweight title from 2014 to 2017. He is on a three-fight winning streak with his last win coming against American Mark DeLuca. He won the bout via seventh-round TKO.

While Crawford is yet to be beaten in his professional career and will most likely be the favorite going into this bout, Brook is as tough an opponent to overcome. The only two losses of his career have come against some of the most elite boxers like Errol Spence Jr. and Gennady Golovkin. Come November, it will be exciting to see how this fight plays out and which of the two boxers imposes their will on the other.
