Despite his sheer efforts, Caleb Plant failed to secure a win over Canelo Alvarez. He offered a legitimate competition for a brief period. However, he ultimately fell prey to Alvarez’s prowess in round 11 and got knocked out in what was his massive chance of shocking the world. With this loss, Plant lost his IBF world title and the unbeaten tag.

Now, he shall rebound himself from the start to become a 2x world champion. He was clearly disappointed by the outcome, especially after claiming to do much better than what he did. But the American fighter is still optimistic about his future in combat sports.

After the fight, Plant reportedly apologized to Canelo Alvarez for cussing his mother in the pre-fight conference. ‘Sweethands’ also took to social media and expressed himself after suffering the maiden pro-career loss.

Caleb Plant wrote, “I’ve bent most the world to my will and done it with nothing but passion and skill. I’ll be back. I showed I belong on the top level and I’ll be champion of the world again. I’ve never been scared to go big or go out on my shield. Thank you to all the fans and all my supporters.”

The supper middleweight division was stacked and full of unbeaten champions before Canelo Alvarez entered the mix. Alvarez has beaten three undefeated champions and one mandatory contender in the span of 11 months, in which Caleb Plant is his latest in-ring victim.

His first in-ring victim, Callum Smith, has left the 168 lbs division after losing the WBC and WBA strap to the Mexican star in December 2020. Will Caleb Plant do the same?

Having faced Canelo Alvarez, Plant clearly has learned a lot from his sole career loss. While he couldn’t survive for all 12 rounds, the American fighter did better than what Billy Joe Saunders had done against Alvarez. He looked sharp in the first stage and made it to the championship rounds.

But Plant should have carried more into his gas tank. As Alvarez sensed him to have lost all the energy in round 11, the Mexican star went for the kill. Plant could get back to his feet but was already way too harmed to continue. Now though, he can utilize all the lessons in his next fight and look to re-capture the world championship status.
