Recently, Mike Coppinger spilled the beans on the amount that both the fighters would have bagged. He tweeted, “Sources: Canelo Alvarez was set to earn more than $40 million guaranteed. Upward of $10 million for Caleb Plant. Career-high paydays for both fighters. We’ll see if they can quickly circle back to a deal that was nearly completed”

By putting on some exemplary performances in the ring over the past few years, Alvarez has definitely witnessed a surge in his paychecks. Also, with his overall persona and aura, the Mexican boxing star was the undeniable favorite for his bout against Plant.

That said, it was obvious that Saul Alvarez would bank some extensive figures for this contest. However, the fans are still optimistic and they’ve kept their fingers crossed to see the fight talks ignite once again.

‘Sweethands’ Plant seemed unimpressed with these ideas. Consequently, the talks didn’t reach a designated conclusion. It’d be interesting to see whether Plant’s and Canelo’s teams resurrect their talks. That will largely depend on Alvarez taking away certain demands from the table.
